If your business is located in Worcester County, you can join MSLBA
through your local affiliate, the Worcester County Licensed
Beverage Association (WCLBA). WCLBA represents
alcohol beverage license retailers which includes taverns, restaurants, package liquor
stores, hotels, bowling alleys and fraternal clubs. When you join us, your dues
include membership in our state affiliate, the Maryland State Licensed Beverage
Association (MSLBA) and our national affiliate, the American Beverage Licensees
(ABL).
OUR PURPOSE:
WCLBA is a
non-profit trade organization, formed to protect and to preserve the interests of
Worcester County alcohol beverage retailers.
LEGISLATIVE:
WCLBA
monitors the issuance of new
licenses and transferred licenses in Worcester County by our local liquor board.
Each year, while the legislature is in session in Annapolis, we actively review proposed
legislation and represent our members on the MSLBA Legislative Committee, which meets
weekly during the session.
Additionally,
WCLBA advocacy on behalf of our licensees includes elimination of the Worcester
County Dispensary system and blocking attempts of the casino conglomerates to enter
Maryland and monopolize the hospitality industry.
WCLBA
offers an
annual Underage Identification seminar, free to members and their employees. Those
attending are educated on the need to check ID, how to check ID and the possible fines and
penalties for alcohol beverage sales to minors. WCLBA has been working with the Ocean City Police Department on their
"Reducing Alcohol Availabilty to Minors Project (RAAM)". During the MSLBA
Convention in October, 1998, a presentation was made by the Ocean City Police Department
to attendees.
