Program.
MSLBA ER TAMŪ is as an educational program designed by licensees for both "on and off" premise establishments. MSLBA ER TAMŪ focuses on the varying effects of alcohol on individuals, and the law(s) and liabilities associated with the sale of alcohol, with emphasis on proper procedures for verifying the legal age of patrons.
MSLBA membership qualifies licensees and their employees for discount registration fees for MSLBA ER TAMŪ
training.

ALCOHOL AWARENESS TRAINING LAW
THE REQUIREMENT - (see Article 2B, Subsection 13-101 for specific language)

On & Off-premise retail alcohol beverage establishments are required to maintain at least one
licensee or designated employee who has been currently certified in an approved alcohol
awareness training program. The certified person is not required to be on-premise at all
times, except in Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Washington & Wicomico Counties.
In Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Washington & Wicomico Counties Only:
Establishments are currently required to have a certified licensee, or a certified person
employed in a supervisory capacity designated by the licensee, present during the hours in
which alcohol may be sold. In Wicomico County, Class C licensed establishments are
exempt from the requirement to have a certified representative present at all times.
(Note Calvert County & City of Annapolis Rules and Regulations require a certified
person on premises at all times when alcohol is sold or served.) |

Certification must be renewed every four years to remain current.

Temporary licenses and class E - steamboat, class F- railroad, and class G - aircraft licenses are exempt from this mandate.
(Note - St. Marys County Rules and Regulations require temporary licensees to comply with all licensee rules and regulations.)

Failure to have a certified representative may result in license renewal delays, as well as, fines, suspensions or even revocation of your retail alcohol beverage license.

HOW TO MEET THE REQUIREMENT
MSLBA Educational Resources (MSLBA ER) offers the TAMŪ, Techniques of Alcohol ManagementŪ, program. The MSLBA ER TAMŪ program is the leading alcohol awareness training program in Maryland and has been approved by the Comptroller for meeting the requirements of the alcohol awareness training law. A local MSLBA ER TAMŪ seminar is available to meet your needs.

form. The MSLBA ER TAMŪ seminar schedule is also published in the monthly Beverage Journal. In addition to the regular schedule of seminars, MSLBA ER also
offers in-house TAMŪ seminars.
MSLBA ER provides a TAMŪ certificate and card for completion of their seminar. Certifications are recorded and a duplicate can be provided in the event that you misplace it. If you have any questions, need a duplicate TAMŪ certificate, or if would like additional information about in-house TAMŪ seminars,
