MSLBA ER TAMŪ is as an educational program designed by licensees for both "on and off" premise establishments. MSLBA ER TAMŪ focuses on the varying effects of alcohol on individuals, and the law(s) and liabilities associated with the sale of alcohol, with emphasis on proper procedures for verifying the legal age of patrons.

ALCOHOL AWARENESS TRAINING
THE REQUIREMENT 1

Generally, licensees of on-premise & off-premise retail alcohol beverage establishments are required to maintain at least one licensee or designated employee who has been currently certified in an approved alcohol awareness training program. The certified person is generally not required to be present at all times, except in Caroline, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Washington & Wicomico Counties. |

In Caroline, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Washington & Wicomico Counties:
A certified licensee, or a certified person employed in a supervisory capacity designated by the licensee, is required to be present during the hours in which alcohol may be sold.

Certification must be renewed every four years to remain current. |
 |
Failure to have a certified representative may result in license renewal delays, as well as fines, suspensions or even revocation of the retail alcohol beverage license. |

HOW TO MEET THE REQUIREMENT
MSLBA Educational Resources (MSLBA ER) offers the TAM®, Techniques of Alcohol Management®, program. The MSLBA ER TAM® program is the leading alcohol awareness training program in Maryland and has been approved by the Comptroller for meeting the requirements of the alcohol awareness training law. Local MSLBA ER TAM® seminars are available to meet your needs. The current schedule and registration form is published in the monthly Beverage Journal and on the web at www.mslba.org—then click “Server Training”. In addition, MSLBA ER offers discounts for groups and for in-house seminars.
MSLBA ER provides a TAM® certificate and card for successful completion of their seminar and if needed, can provide persons currently certified through MSLBA ER with duplicate certification papers. If you have any questions, need a duplicate TAM® certificate, or would like additional information about group discounts or in-house TAM® seminars, please contact the MSLBA ER office.
