If your business is located in Anne Arundel County, you can join MSLBA through your local affiliate, the Anne Arundel County Licensed Beverage Association (AACLBA)AACLBA represents alcohol beverage license retailers which includes taverns, restaurants, package liquor stores, hotels, bowling alleys and fraternal clubs.  When you join us, your dues include membership in our state affiliate,  the Maryland State Licensed Beverage Association (MSLBA) and our national affiliate, the American Beverage licensees (ABL).

OUR PURPOSE:

AACLBA is a non-profit trade organization and is the oldest affiliate of the MSLBA.  AACLBA was formed in 1936 to bring alcohol beverage dealers together to "lobby for good legislation".

LEGISLATIVE:

AACLBA monitors the issuance of new licenses and transferred licenses in Anne Arundel County by the liquor board,  during our monthly board meetings.  Each year, while the legislature is in session in Annapolis, we actively review proposed legislation and represent our members on the MSLBA Legislative Committee, which meets weekly during the session.

Our legislative successes include:

   * Joined MSLBA to pass 1% increase for lottery agents commissions in the 1999 Maryland
      Legislature, effective October 1, 1999

 * Repeal of the signage limitations in Anne Arundel County

   * Defeated legislation for multiple licensing of restaurants in Anne Arundel County

    * Joined MSLBA to pass legislation providing exemptions for the hospitality industry
from the state wide smoking ban

    * Joined MSLBA to pass legislation to regulate the business practices of the
     performing rights societies in Maryland

    * Defeated legislation to lower the DWI to .08, at the state and national levels

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS:

Over the years, we have donated over $275,000 to local charities such as the Anne Arundel County Police Drug Free Program, Take Back the Streets Program, North Arundel Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Anne Arundel Lay Health Centers, The Providence Center and Opportunity Builders.
